Rare Jean Arthur (October 17,1900 - June 19,1991) autographed 1942 vintage 8" x 10" The Talk of the Town photo hand signed and inscribed Kindest Regards To Mary Jessma- Jean Arthur. This signature has been authenticated by JSA James Spence authentication Certification Number: SS16986 and will come with the matching cert card you see in the scans. The photo has some slight discoloration showing thru from the snipe and a bottom right creased corner with some edge wear. Other bumps and bruises but looks fine head on a beautiful image of Jean Arthur and very rare in signed authentic photos. She was a recluse much like Greta Garbo and stayed out of the spotlight.

She was an American actress and major film star of the 1930's and 40's. She starred in 3 Frank Capra films: Mr. Deeds Goes To Town (1936), You Can't Take It With You (1938), and Mr. Smith Goes To Washington (1939), films that championed the "everyday heroine". No one was more closely identified with the screwball comedy than Jean Arthur. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1944 for her performance in The More The Merrier (1943). Mary Jessma Wilson had a radio show that interviewed the Hollywood Stars of the times and part of her collection is in the Smithsonian.
