Certified French? Rt Deco 5.80 Ct. Colombian AAA Emerald Diamond Platinum Ring

  

An absolutely magnificent and important vintage French Art Deco ca. 1925 platinum ring adorned with a large Colombian emerald and accented with round diamonds. The emerald cut natural green emerald is of the finest vivid green color which was specifically noted and received a special recognition by the GCS Gem Lab in London and was described as Vivid Green - bG(16) 5/6 triple AAA, Medium, vivid, blueish green hue and strong saturation, which corresponds to only under 10% of all finest Colombian emeralds mined.

This is by far the most praised color combination for an emerald and an exceptional recognition for this particular stone. The emerald exhibits typical natural gemological characteristics and was confirmed to be of a Colombian origin. Colombian emeralds from this specific era and of such fine quality were solely mined and came from the famous Muzo mine in particular. The GCS Lab measured the emerald to be of 14.20x9.70x5.80mm (within setting) and was estimated to weigh 5.80 carats with a possibility of 6.30 carats if unmounted. The emerald is extremely transparent and clean and clarity grade could be estimated in the VVS2 range for a Type III gemstone (in respect to GIA clarity grading standards).

It was also further confirmed that the present fine and important gem exhibits moderate indications of clarity enhancements - cedar oil residue in fissures. The closed set emerald is accented with 18 round transitional cut diamonds set on both sides in to a Romanesque column top style. All diamonds possess a superb VVS2 clarity and average G-H white color. Each diamond has a diameter of about 2.50mm and total estimated diamond weight is in the 0.90 carats. The ring is crafted in solid platinum with a gross weight of 14.5 grams.

Ring size is 48 (US size 5 / UK size J), but can be resized. The outside of the ring's shank is hallmarked with French mark for platinum.
